Blake's surprise party!

Blake had a hard time on his actual birthday this year, even though he had a friend over and we had a cake and a family celebration, he felt the need to call everyone and remind them that it was his birthday. He wanted a surprise party this year. They day ended well and he was overall pleased, but he started out a bit mopey.

I kept going back and forth on what to for the kids birthday's this year. Blake finally said he wanted a surprise party. We decided the only time we could pull it off was one day after his real birthday. When he and his dad came back from spending a gift certificate he got for his birthday, there were a bunch of adults, many from church sitting in the living room. Since it was Sunday night, we asked Bryan if he could start our bible study off with a prayer. He didn't have a clue.

Blake headed for his room to put his stuff down. All the kids were quiet and completely out of sight! Under the bed, under the comforter, in the closet. It was pretty amazing. When he opened the door, he didn't see a soul until they yelled surprise. He was so surprised. We did pizza, and presents here and cupcakes at the pool. They had a great time. I was so impressed with how the friend from church, home school, and school all mixed and mingled. It was like they were all best of friends. It was so nice.

His dad was so excited to give him a fishing pole and tackle box this year. They love to fish in Pa Pa's creek. They are going camping with the boys this week. I guess they will get to use it then!
