"Tuesday afternoon, January 12th, 2010, the worst earthquake in 200 years - 7.0 in magnitude - struck less than ten miles from the Caribbean city of Port-au-Prince, Haiti. The initial quake was later followed by twelve aftershocks greater than magnitude 5.0. Structures of all kinds were damaged or collapsed, from shantytown homes to national landmarks. Rescue teams from all over the world are descended on Haiti to help where they were able...there were teams and resources already mobilized before the disaster to help with the destruction...God was already sending help for the people of Haiti, even before they knew they needed it.
My husband Bryan was planning on attending a construction mission to prepare for a camp used for for an orphanage, school, feeding, water and bible school in the summer.
Haiti was more than his heart was prepared for.
The last few years have been like an earthquake for me and many of my loved ones. Too many died young and ravaged by sickness and disease, but like Haiti, I have faith to know God has sent help ahead of the storms to carry his people through.
In this life, there will be trouble, but take heart, I have overcome the world! "He is able to save COMPLETELY those who come to God through HIM, because he ALWAYS LIVES to intercede for them! ~Hebrews 7:25
God has received many saints too! We will see them in a blink! Praise God for victory through Jesus! Pray that believers will be bold to bring as many as possible to know the depth of his love and saving grace for us through Christ! This is what keeps me up at night.
In the last few very short years, my family and friends have said goodbye to many dear friends who will be missed! My sweet Grandfather Thurman Still, Bryan's Aunt Linda Samanie, Jenny Bizaillion, Grampi Donald Samanie, Pamela Spencer's mom, Dr. Bonnet, Lorye's sweet daddy Mr. Pope, My Grandmother Ruby Still's sister Lela Warren, Jason Loucks (husband to Lynda Loucks, and father to Justin and Jacob), Grannie Jettie Marie Samanie, Wendi Bowman~a friend and mother of Blake's best friend and classmate, Jason Ogle wonderful husband and father, and Sharon Washburn, inspiring saint and beloved friend, mother, and wife!
It has been a tsunami of grief here on earth for these sweet families and friends this year! Even as I write this, my chest is churning and my eyes are welling with tears. My heart longs for home, but heaven says wait! Jesus says, look around! "Again he wispers in my ear...What is impossible with man is possible with God!" This life really is just the blink of an eye, don't forget, there is work left to do! I PROMISE, you are not missing out on the party, but there are still people that I want you to invite!
If you still don't know that Jesus gave his Son to die on the cross to reconcile you to a Holy and just God, HE DID! You just need to accept the gift he has given you and follow him! Jesus already did the work on the cross to forgive your sins. While you were a sinner, he gave it all for you to be with him forever. He wants you to be with him, belong to him, be taken care of by him.
You can trust in praying to let his will be done...he never intended the world to be this way! If his will was done, this world would stand up and take notice. If Christians acted like Christ the world might spin right off the axis!
That's all for now...NBD
